Popcorn July – The Movie Guide

Speaking of new releases, July is the best month! Believe me, this month summer’s best movies come to our cinemas and they promise excitement, spectacular sceneries and as always, great actors! Go check them out, just don’t forget the popcorn! 🙂

🍿🍿🍿

July 13: War for the Planet of the Apes

This is the third movie after the Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the story, which depicts how the world in the original Planet of the Apes films came to be. Caesar is at the lead of the pack and he can already speak like a human being and he only wishes to protect his family. Trying to destroy Caesar’s family is the Colonel, played by the magnificent Woody Harrelson. The movie is praised for its visual effects, as they depict real actors as monkeys; one of them being Andy Serkis, famous for playing such roles (for example Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy). July 20: Dunkirk

I cannot put it into words, how very excited I am about this movie. It’s been three years, since the last Christopher Nolan movie; he directed films such as The Dark Knight, Inception and Interstellar. This is his first movie based on historical events – a very interesting chapter in the II World War indeed – which will still be a suspense movie. Three stories are told from three points of view: one from land, one from sea, and one from air. Such Nolan alumni participate in the movie as Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy, but Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance also star in the film. ( OFFICIAL TRAILER )

July 20: Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

This movie is based on the French science fiction comic series Valérian et Laureline. The series is considered a landmark in European comics and traces of its concept, storylines and design can be found in Star Wars or The Fifth Element – also a Luc Besson movie. The director chose to make the movie in English, with English-speaking actors in order to raise its attention to a wider audience. The film seems to have great cinematography, excellent views and actors such as Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Dane DeHaan, former model Cara Delevingne, and even Rihanna has a cameo. (OFFICIAL TRAILER)

July 27: Atomic Blonde

The movie, partly shot in Budapest (spot the special inner houses of Budapest and the inside of the Festetics Palace!) – stand-in as Berlin - shows an undercover female MI6 agent in the Cold War who sets out to investigate the murder of a fellow agent. Based on the trailer the movie promises excitement, greatly choreographed fight scenes and entertainment! The main actors are Charlize Theron and James McAvoy and neither of them will disappoint. Could this movie be the female equivalent of John Wick? I really hope so! ( OFFICIAL TRAILER )
